Ankit Karki
Himalayan Expedition Leader & Safety Expert
15 Years on the Mountain
Hello! I'm Ankit Karki. For over a decade, I've organized high-altitude expeditions across the Himalayas. After guiding 50+ personal treks and witnessing the difference between life-saving preparation and dangerous negligence, I started this site to share the unfiltered truth about adventure travel.
My journey began not as a guide, but as a porter carrying 30kg loads up to Everest Base Camp. That experience taught me respect for the mountains that no classroom ever could. I worked my way up to assistant guide, then lead guide, and finally, expedition organizer.
I've seen it all: from the euphoria of reaching Thorong La Pass at sunrise to the terrifying reality of helicopter evacuations in whiteout conditions. My mission now is simple: to provide the safety-critical, logistical details that mainstream travel blogs miss. Whether it's the reality of AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness) or the actual costs of "budget" travel, I write for travelers who want to come home safe.

My Travel Philosophy
Every story and guide on this site follows a simple philosophy:
- Authenticity First - I only write about places I've personally visited and experiences I've genuinely had. If I haven't been there, I won't write a guide about it.
- Practical Advice - I focus on actionable tips that help you plan better trips, not just pretty pictures. You need to know permit costs, bus schedules, and safety warnings.
- Honest Reviews - Whether it's a hotel, restaurant, or destination, I share the good and the bad. I'm not sponsored by tourism boards, so my loyalty is to you, the reader.
- Sustainable Travel - I believe in respecting local cultures and minimizing our environmental impact. "Leave No Trace" isn't just a slogan; it's a requirement.
